General practitioners group – Legal update

Within the series of General Practitioner Group (GPG) events organised to inform members working in practice on a topic of relevance, this briefing will provide information on the benefits of the new “employee shareholder” employment status and managing performance in the workplace.

With the introduction of the employee shareholder status , Jean-Pierre will discuss how these are expected to work in practice.  With a number of concessions having been made to ensure the proposals were accepted, Jean-Pierre will consider whether the red-tape will prevent employers from adopting this new status and whether the proposals still offer the flexibility originally envisaged.

Performance issues in the workplace can create a headache for employers of any size.  Eleanor will offer guidance on managing performance effectively and highlight some of the common mistakes employers make when tackling employee performance issues.  Eleanor will outline some of the key considerations when contemplating dismissal and the legal framework within which employers must operate.
