Join us and ICAEW Members in Scotland for a social walk to the Munro summit of Mount Keen in Glen Esk in Angus.

This year our guided Munro Walk, to which all IMS (ICAEW Members in Scotland) members as well as family and friends are welcome, will ascend the Munro summit of Mount Keen in Glen Esk in Angus. Mount Keen is Scotland’s most easterly Munro. It is situated in the eastern Cairngorms, and gives excellent walking with wide panoramic views (weather permitting!).

Aruthur Custance
Arthur Custance is an ICAEW member who was a partner with Armstrong Watson in Carlisle before retiring from full-time practice and moving north to Kinlochleven. Arthur now has more time to pursue his passion for walking. He has been a keen walker since he was a teenager, and has climbed all the Munros and Corbetts in Scotland as well as all the Wainwright summits in the English Lake District.

Directions to starting point

From all directions other than from Inverness or Aberdeen the best way is to proceed to Perth and then follow the A90 road as far as Brechin. The A90 bypasses Brechin. At the far end of the bypass leave the A90 and take the B966 road and follow this through Edzell. About one mile beyond Edzell the road crosses a bridge over the River North Esk. About 200 yards beyond the bridge take the road on the left signed “Tarfside” and “Invermark”. Follow this road for fifteen miles to the car park near the end of the public road.

If travelling from Inverness take the A9 south as far as Dunkeld. Here take the A923 to Blairgowrie and here join the A926 and follow this through Kirriemuir to its junction with the A90. Directions thereafter as above.

If travelling from Aberdeen take the A90 south as far as Brechin and here take the B966. Directions thereafter as above.

When arriving at the start please introduce yourself to Arthur Custance, who will be leading the walk. For those who do not know him he will be driving a blue Volkswagen Passat.

Anyone wishing to stay at the Glenesk Hotel can make a booking direct with them (phone +44 (0)1356 647 333). There are also a number of b & bs in Edzell: https://www.visitscotland.com/info/towns-villages/edzell-p241451
