Economic update with the Bank of England – Hosted by Northern, Yorkshire & Humber

Our local experts will explore the latest business confidence findings across Northern, Yorkshire and Humber and compare this to the wider UK outcome.

Event information

Business confidence – Steve Plaskitt, on behalf of ICAEW

The latest findings from the quarterly ICAEW Business Confidence Monitor (BCM) give an indication of the overall direction of the economy, what’s driving change and highlights the key concerns across the Northern, Yorkshire and Humber region as well as the rest of the UK.

UK Economic Outlook – Mauricio Armellini, Bank of England

Mauricio will focus on how the Bank sees the economy in the current climate and members will be asked to give their views on the effect of the current pandemic on their business, or clients’ business conditions.

It’s also an opportunity for the Bank to get some feedback from members on how they are finding things, as well as a broader discussion on challenges and learnings from recent events.

Roundtable discussion led by Steve Plaskitt (discussion topics may vary)

  • What’s happening in your sector?
  • Do the BCM findings resonate?
  • What challenges are you facing in your business / sector?
  • What are the external factors that are impacting?

As well as an opportunity for peer input, this presents the opportunity to hear the issues specifically relevant to members in Northern, Yorkshire and Humber.

To allow a full and frank discussion, Chatham House Rules will apply at this event.
