Join us for our annual conference for interesting lectures and networking.

The weekend is a great opportunity to gain valuable CPD at a competitive price. Over the weekend you will receive the equivalent of four half-day courses. It is aimed at partners, managers, and seniors in independent practices.

As well as hearing from our expert lecturers you will have the chance to connect with them and other practitioners throughout the weekend.

Conference information

Many of the topics have been suggested by delegates who have attended previous Redworth conferences as well as the NorSCA CPD programme. Also, Rebecca Benneyworth will answer delegates’ specific tax questions in her popular “Rebecca on Request” slot on Sunday morning. You can be sure that the conference will meet your business and professional needs, as well as those of your staff.

As well as the lectures there is an excellent social aspect to the weekend, with delegates and speakers mingling during the free periods. You can benefit from lots of advice from the speakers, as well as comparing notes with other practitioners.

Rebecca Benneyworth BSc FCA MBE

Rebecca Benneyworth BSc FCA MBE

Rebecca is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant. She is a lecturer, writer and consultant on a variety of taxes, lecturing extensively throughout the UK, to accountants, business people and also to HMRC and the Treasury.

She has her own accountancy practice based in Gloucestershire, with a variety of small business and personal tax clients. During the last two years this has become a 100% digital practice.

She is Chair of the HMRC Digital Advisory Group, providing help and support to HMRC in understanding the challenges that Making Tax Digital presents to small businesses and their advisers. She is also a member of the Admin Burdens Advisory Board, an independent group monitoring the burdens the tax system impose on businesses.

Rebecca is a past Chair of the Tax Faculty of the ICAEW, and serves on the Tax Faculty Board. She is ICAEW council member for South West England, and was awarded an MBE for services to the tax profession in 2012.

Stephanie Henshaw FCA – Technical Standards Partner, Francis Clark LLP and a member of the ICAEW Financial Reporting Faculty Board

Stephanie is a corporate audit partner at Francis Clark, delivering audit, assurance and advisory services to a wide range of clients, from manufacturing and service companies to not-for-profit entities. She has a particular interest in effective narrative reporting and corporate governance..

Stephanie has overall responsibility for professional standards, including acting as the firm’s head of audit, assurance and financial reporting. She acts as a second partner for many of the firm’s most prestigious clients, including the firm’s largest groups and listed companies.

Stephanie was one of the founder members of the ICAEW Financial Reporting Faculty which was established to provide practical support for preparers of financial statements and she currently chairs the Faculty Board. This gives her input into the development of financial reporting standards and an insight into the practical problems of implementation, both for UK GAAP and IFRS.

Stephanie is also an experienced and highly regarded presenter and has presented or participated as a panel member at a wide range of ICAEW financial reporting events.

Andrew Swan – Short Richardson & Forth

Andrew qualified from Northumbria University in 2000. Following his early years in legal aid practice, he joined Ward Hadaway solicitors in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2005, where he developed his specialist skills in regulatory law and financial crime. He joined Short Richardson & Forth in early 2011 as an associate and was soon promoted to partner.

Andrew is the Head of the Financial Crime and Regulatory Teams. He has a wealth of advocacy experience in appearing before the criminal courts and regulatory tribunals. Not only has Andrew successfully dealt with many large and complex white-collar crime cases, including fraud, tax evasion and money laundering, he also deals with many investigations and prosecutions by the various regulatory bodies. Andrew is particularly renowned nationally for representing clients in respect of data protection breaches, dealing specifically with the Information Commissioner’s Office and the Ministry of Justice.

Dr Yvonne Gale FCA – Chief Executive Officer, NEL Fund Managers

Yvonne joined NEL Fund Managers in 2002. She is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of all teams within the organisation.

Her role also involves sourcing funds for management, fund design, achieving maximised returns and impact for investors, and investor relations.

Yvonne is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and an Associate Member of the Institute of Economic Development. She holds a DBA, MBA, IOD Diploma in Company Direction and is an FCA approved person. Dr Gale’s area of research is investment decision making. She is also a member of the Advisory and Decision Committee for the UAE Ministry of Finance-backed, Mohammed bin Rashid AED 2 billion Innovation Fund.

Prior to joining NEL, she qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a national accountancy firm and has held senior management positions in several high growth businesses. She brings a wealth of experience to the team of investing in high growth businesses.
