Northern Society of Chartered Accountants

At the heart of northern business since 1882

Pandemic Perspectives moves south 2 September 2020

During the past 8 weeks NorSCA members have been able to enjoy a series of covid conversations with finance professionals talking about the response of their business, especially the finance team, to the unusual trading situation brought about by the coronavirus shut down.

Badged under the heading “Pandemic Perspectives” these free-to-register lunchtime discussions started with a series in East Anglia with members at Astra Zenica (working on an antidote) and Addenbrooke Hospital (responding to the impact on patients and NHS supply issues). Northern Society know a good idea when they spot one and Joanne Lucking quickly arranged our local series.

Should you have missed these when “live” they are available to listen now.  The series began with Adam Langman at Metnor, continued with Richard Hutton at Greggs, Stephen Ibbotson at Venator (a Teesside business with a £4bn turnover), Keith Proudfoot at Tyne Theatre & Opera House and will conclude on 8 September with Jon Armstrong at PD Ports (book here for PD Ports).

The baton has now been picked up by the Yorkshire & Humberside Society who feature former NCASS committee member John Flynn, on his response to the pandemic in his current role as Group Operations Financial Controller at Barratt Developments PLC, on 15 September – more details here.

Further details about this series may be found on icaew.com
