Northern Society of Chartered Accountants

At the heart of northern business since 1882

Teesside business support 12 February 2021

Teesside Society of Chartered Accountants enjoyed a successful turnout at their first ‘post-COVID-19’ event.

This was held on Zoom on Wednesday 10 February, with 53 people enjoying the session at its peak.

Business support in the Tees Valley

The session focused on providing members and non-members alike with an overview of the business support landscape in the Tees Valley including grants, loan funding, development programmes and networking support.

The motivation for the session was to provide a guide of what in on offer in the region to businesses, both related to COVID-19 but also business as usual support, as well as to shed light on how each of the organisations interact with each other.

The 12 speakers on the day included members of Tees Valley Business (the successor to Tees Valley Business Compass), FW Capital, UKSE, Tees Valley Business Hub, Digital City and the five local authority’s economic development teams.

The presentation was shared with delegates following the event and is available for those that were unable to attend by contacting the ICAEW Teesside Society of Chartered Accountants.

Despite the tight schedule and some deviation to the original time plan, the presentation flowed smoothly between the speakers, receiving favourable feedback from attendees. Similar events are planned for the North East and Cumbria featuring the local LEPs, with both links now live on the ICAEW website.

Virtual Teesside Pan Professional Joint Supper – 11 March 2021

A highlight of the Teesside Teesside Society of Chartered Accountants social calendar pre-pandemic was the Pan-Professional Joint Supper, last held in early-March 2020 at Middlesbrough Football Club.

With 120 attendees last year, the event has always been very well received in the local community as a prominent networking occasion, as well as the quiz highlight of the year thanks to Keith Proudfoot’s impossible questions.
