On the evening of Thursday 26 February, the Tyne and Wear branch organised a wine tasting evening in Sutherland Hall, Northumbria University.
In the beautiful surroundings of Sutherland Hall, hosted by Northumbria University for the event, wine expert Paul Raven took us away from the usual popular grape varieties to experiment with some lesser known grapes. The selection of eight wines from various countries introduced the group to some excellent alternatives and even featured an impressive English wine. With focus away from the usual guess the grape variety tastings, attendees had time to enjoy each wine and were keen to finish the bottles at the end of the night. A light hearted quiz and an alternative version of heads and tails added to the entertainment of the evening.
