Our breakfast briefing will provide an overview of the latest business confidence and economic forecasts from ICAEW. Handelsbanken will be providing a detailed analysis of China and will also be discussing how a North East business might trade successfully with the widely debated superpower.

Keith Proudfoot
Organisation: ICAEW
Position: Regional Director, Northern and Scotland
Keith Proudfoot was the first Regional Director for the then 3000 members of the ICAEW in the northern region from 2001 to 2017 and from 2002 also for the 1400+ members in Scotland.
Now holding a number of unpaid non-exec roles with charities and NFPs, Keith has an extensive business support network. He has continued to be involved with ICAEW members in the Northern region in a voluntary capacity.
Richard Clarke
Organisation: Handelsbanken for Yorkshire and the North East
Position: Trade Finance Manager
Richard’s role is to help the Handelsbanken branches provide effective trade finance solutions to their importing and exporting customers with a focus on mitigating the inherent risks involved with international trade.
Prior to joining Handelsbanken, Richard was an Export Finance Advisor with the UK’s export credit agency, UK Export Finance (ECGD). This role involved providing specialist assistance on trade finance and credit insurance to businesses to enable them to export successfully. Before UKEF, Richard worked for HSBC in a variety of International and Commercial roles.
Stephen Chan
Organisation: Hanelsbanken
Position: International Trade Manager
Stephen started his career with Handelsbanken in 1996. His latest position was in Hong Kong as the Head of Corporate Banking, covering the market of Southern China, it engaged in trading between China / Hong Kong and European countries. In October 2013, Stephen moved to the UK from Hong Kong to take up a new challenge within Handelsbanken. He’s now developing business between Handelsbanken UK and Handelsbanken International’s operation in over 23 countries for local branches.
