Speaker

John Thompson

John joined the FSA as a Senior Advisor in early 2010 when he was part of the team which developed the FSA’s approach to bank recovery and resolution planning.  He was a significant contributor to the thinking and content which went into the FSA’s consultation paper on Recovery and Resolution Plans published in 2011. Since moving across to the Bank of England – PRA in April 2013 he has continued his involvement in recovery and resolution planning and is now working on the PRA’s implementation of Banking Structural Reform (‘ring fencing’).

John was formerly a senior partner in PwC and was for many years the partner leading Coopers and Lybrand’s business recovery and insolvency practice in UK and then for PwC globally. He is a non-executive director of the UK subsidiary of an overseas bank. Earlier in his career he ran the Tehran office of Coopers and Lybrand and for two years their office in Kabul.
