Join us for the Tyne & Wear General Practitioners’ Conference 2016 at Redworth Hall Hotel, County Durham.

Our conference is open to all general practitioners.  Whether you are a regular attendee or joining us for the first time, we look forward to seeing you in February 2016.

As usual our speakers will provide up to the minute lectures on the changes affecting the profession as well as tackling topics that are problematic to practitioners.


Our speakers are drawn from all areas – geographically as well as topically – and have a wealth of experience to share. We look forward to welcoming you to another excellent conference.

Back by popular request, Rebecca Benneyworth will be repeating her ‘on request’ session. You can send in requests to Rebecca at [email protected] up to Monday 22 February 2016 or hand in requests on the Friday saying what you would like her to talk about and, on Sunday morning, she’ll deliver your own personalised lecture.

When you book you will only be charged for the conference element, the accommodation charges are paid to the hotel on the weekend itself. We will continue to book the rooms for delegates (and spouses, if required) at our preferential rates.

Bill Telford  – Telford Financial Training Ltd

Bill Telford – Telford Financial Training Ltd

Bill qualified as an accountant with an international big four firm in 1975 and has spent the last 30 years in education and training. In 2000, he joined Baker Tilly as National Training Director and he has served on both the ICAEW Council the Learning & Professional Development Board. He has recently retired as a partner with Baker Tilly and is now trading as a freelance lecturer and training consultant.

David Heaton

David is the author of CCH’s NIC annual and a contributor to Tolley’s Taxwise and Tax Planning annuals on employment tax issues.  Now based in Wiltshire, he writes and lectures widely, and advises businesses and practices of all sizes on PAYE, NIC and employee benefit matters, including status and intermediary issues, share schemes and associated valuations, and expatriate tax and social security.  He also advises on complex tax investigations, disclosures and settlements, especially covering remuneration schemes.

Karen Barwick – Director, Laurus Associates Ltd

Laurus Associates Ltd., was established in 2002 by Karen Barwick and Colin Dawson, and continues to build on the long term relationships already formed between numerous legal and accountancy firms.

Karen Barwick is drawing on her past experiences of pensions gained from both a leading life office and a large national corporate IFA. This has resulted in advice as a specialist nature, predominantly to the business community, and also to private clients.

Rebecca Benneyworth BSc FCA MBE

Rebecca Benneyworth BSc FCA MBE

Rebecca is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant. She is a lecturer, writer and consultant on a variety of taxes, lecturing extensively throughout the UK, to accountants, business people and also to HMRC and the Treasury.

She has her own accountancy practice based in Gloucestershire, with a variety of small business and personal tax clients. During the last two years this has become a 100% digital practice.

She is Chair of the HMRC Digital Advisory Group, providing help and support to HMRC in understanding the challenges that Making Tax Digital presents to small businesses and their advisers. She is also a member of the Admin Burdens Advisory Board, an independent group monitoring the burdens the tax system impose on businesses.

Rebecca is a past Chair of the Tax Faculty of the ICAEW, and serves on the Tax Faculty Board. She is ICAEW council member for South West England, and was awarded an MBE for services to the tax profession in 2012.
