Spring Guided Walk – Ingram

Date: 11 May 2014 13:00 - 16:30

Type: Social and Networking

Organiser: NorSCA

Northern Society has again teamed up with the great company Shepherds Walks to organise a scenic guided walk for members, friends and family in the stunning Northumberland countryside with Jon Monks.

This wonderful walk explores some of the lower lying hills to the south of Ingram. These are packed full of Bronze Age burial cairns and settlements dating back to Iron Age and Roman times.

During the walk you will be rewarded with some spectacular views of the Breamish Valley, the Simonside Hills and a sense of isolation, which is second to none.

Jon was a full time hill shepherd and has worked and lived in Northumberland for 19 years and he will be drawing on his true passion and enthusiasm for the countryside at this special time of year as we get introduced to this scenic part of the country.

Friends, family and dogs (on leads) are all welcome too. It would be a good idea to pack refreshments for when we stop for a break during the walk.

Starting point: National Park Bridge car park, Ingram (grid ref. NU 018163).
