A tour of the theatre will take you back nearly 150 years. The Grade I listed building was built in 1867 and is a unique creation of that era. The Tyne Theatre & Opera House Preservation Trust became the freehold owner of the building in 2008 in order to restore and preserve the theatre for the benefit of the public at large.
The one hour tour of the building will explore all areas of the theatre, including the under stage, backstage and many other secret areas never seen on a normal visit. Our tour guide will reveal the theatre’s fascinating history and highlight tales of its stars, its shows and even its ghosts.
