Northern Society of Chartered Accountants

At the heart of northern business since 1882

Meet your IPC Rep Geoff Little 28 August 2019

We recently interviewed ICAEW Practice Committee (IPC) representative, Geoff Little about his role for NorSCA News, now it’s time to find out what really makes him tick.

Getting to know Geoff

Geoff is the Director and Owner of Bell Anderson Limited in Gateshead, he was voted onto the ICAEW Practice Committee (IPC) in June 2016.

Describe your typical weekday

Every day is different – and fun (although often challenging)! I get to work closely with people for most of the time, which makes the challenging elements more enjoyable – it’s always rewarding to be able to really help a client.

Sum up your career to so far

I studied at the University of Sheffield, then trained and qualified with Grant Thronton in Newcastle before moving to Haines Watts. I later became a senior manager at Deloitte. I now run my own business, Bell Anderson Limited.

What book are you reading at the moment?

Dead Scared by Sharon Bolton

How do you relax?

I enjoy watching sport, particularly football (although supporting Sunderland has taken years off my life!).

Which three words best describe you?

Supportive. Hardworking. Fun.

Who would you like to play you in the film of your life?

I have always liked Walter Matthau but it’s unfortunately too late for that to happen now.

What’s your worst habit?

I probably talk too much…

What’s your favourite saying or quotation?

I think it’s “To be number one, you must train like you are number two”, although my daughters would argue that it’s “You’re going to need a bigger boat” (I’m a bit of a fan of the film “Jaws”!).

About the ICAEW Practice Committee (IPC)

The IPC was designed by members in practice for members in practice, with the opportunity for anyone in practice to apply for membership. The role of the IPC is to be a representative voice for practice within ICAEW.

The IPC is a non-executive body of standing, authority and influence through which Members Engaged in Public Practice (as defined in the electoral regulations) can represent their views to ICAEW and vice versa.
