You can do just that by coming along to the UK’s largest indoor inflatable arena and have a bounce with us- this September, our NCASS event sees us take over InflateSpace for an hour, allowing you the opportunity to take on the RocketRacers, Space Jam Slam Dunk and many more activities on a Thursday evening. A great opportunity to socialise and network in an informal setting with no shortage of laughs!

NCASS and CABA – Public Speaking with Confidence

Work alongside a trained professional and other ICAEW members to build on your public speaking and presenting skills and gain the necessary confidence to stand out as a competent and effective public speaker.

Many of us try to avoid public speaking. This skill is often unlearned in our degrees or our training schemes but we are sometimes just expected to be good at it. According to the BBC, a 2014 survey by Chapman University found a fear of public speaking was the biggest phobia among respondents – 25.3% said they feared speaking in front of a crowd.

However, that fear may be majorly limiting our career opportunities!

A survey of more than 600 employers in 2014 found that among the top skills recruiters look for, “oral communication” was number one and “presentation skills” number four. Traditional management skills such as “managing administrative activities” came down at the bottom.

http://www.bbc.com/capital/story/20170321-is-public-speaking-fear-limiting-your-career

Event information

This workshop is designed to help us face that fear and attempt prevent the dry throat, shaky legs and sweaty palms a lot of us experience from the moment we stand up in front of that crowd. We will be working alongside a professional who will help us to manage the nerves and help us to become more competent and confident public speakers!

Additionally thanks to our friends at CABA, this event is completely free AND there is free food before the event!

Please note that there is parking directly opposite the Sandman Signature Hotel.

NCASS Case Study revision session

A case study revision session for students sitting their exam in July 2017

If you are preparing to sit your case study exam in July 2017, then this revision session is for you. Run by ACA Simplified tutor Martin Johnson, hear key themes and possible examination scenarios which could feature in your exam.

Our July 2017 Advance Information review session will be an ideal opportunity to become familiar with the Case Study business that forms the focus of your exam. The session will provide a condensed version of ACA Simplified’s popular Advance Information on-demand video – a four hour + video provided before every exam sitting. The session will be led by Martin Johnson, ACA Simplified’s Head of Case Study, who has successfully coached over 700 students through the exam (including an ICAEW global prize winner and ICAEW regional prize winner). Martin will take you through some of the key aspects of the July 2017 Advance Information, based on his experience of teaching Case and writing Case mock exams over the last 10 exam sessions.

You will also be provided with some general tips for each of the three main requirements of the examination and the increasingly important Executive Summary. The tutor will take you through some classic “dos and don’ts” to ensure that you don’t drop marks unnecessarily. Time will also be reserved for questions and answers after the lecture.

The session itself is being live streamed from Birmingham, and following the great success and undoubted popularity of ACA Simplified’s revision materials, NCASS are thrilled to offer this session to our students. The course will run from 18:45 to 21:30.

Cost

NCASS are delighted to be able to offer this course for free. Please note that places are limited and bookings must be made via the link below. Online booking closes 14 June.

Supported by ACA Simplified

We offer classroom tuition courses for Case Study, using our unique small group format of 4 or 5 students per class to promote lots of interaction and team spirit in the classes.

Our “Cracking Case” student-focused tips book is updated before every session to give you our latest thinking on how the Case exam is evolving, giving you the best chance of succeeding. “Cracking Case” has become hugely popular with students.

For each sitting, we produce a pack of 5 mock exams based on the live Advance Information to give students the chance to practise their technique whilst also learning their own Case business inside-out.

We are delighted to be launching our Advance Information review webinars for the November 2016 session. These on-demand lectures will give you an opportunity to further develop your knowledge of the Case business and will be viewable at a time convenient to you.

For further information on our Case Study resources please see our Case Study-specific website at www.acasimplifiedcase.com.
